G'Day Everyone,
SnoopS from Stuff and Things here,

This is the first in a regular series we will be doing on the Stuff And Things AU Blogs
Each one will be focusing on a fix/repair/improvement job with Sugru and will explain the steps we took to do that job.

This time we will be doing a quick repair job on the bottom of a shoe.

As you can see the rubber has lifted off the sole of the shoe.

First clean the area you will be applying the sugru to with warm water and a cloth or paper towel.

NOTE :Soap will stop sugru from sticking to a surface, due to the release agents in it, so make sure surfaces are soap residue free.

Next make sure the area you will be applying the sugru to is then completely dried, having a few dry cloths or paper towels
around to clean your hands in later steps is also a good idea.

Select a colour of sugru for your fix (I chose black) and cut open the sachet along the dotted line.
For this job I only needed half a pack, so I left half of the Sugru in the sachet for now.

Then I put the Sugru onto the surfaces I was sticking together (sometimes you have to smear it on to make it stick to the surface).

Pressing the two surfaces together to bond them, some of the Sugru squeezed out the side.

Running my index finger down the edge of the join, I smear the extra Sugru along the join and into any gaps.
Cleaning the excess Sugru off your hands onto a dry cloth or paper towel at this stage is a good idea, this avoids leaving sugru
fingerprints on the job you are working on.
With a damp finger, cloth or paper towel you can gently run it over the Sugru to get a nice smooth surface.
Use a damp cloth or paper towel to clean up the area around your sugru repair, removing any fingerprints or smudges on the
surfaces aound your job.

The last step was to put the shoe aside where the repaired area was off all surfaces, and let it sit for a day.
After 24 hours the Sugru will set, going from being moldable like playdoh or blu-tac, to being a firm silicone rubber.

One shoe repair done!
